About The Position

BGE, Inc. is a nationwide civil engineering consulting firm offering career opportunities across disciplines supporting public and private infrastructure projects. The Rod Technician assists a Party Chief with a variety of surveying work and performs routine tasks to become familiar with surveying equipment, terminology, and operating procedures. The role requires outdoor work and includes cutting brush, hammering stakes, and following safety procedures. No previous experience is required.

Requirements

• No previous experience required.
• Willingness and ability to cut brush and hammer iron and wood stakes.
• Willingness and ability to follow safety requirements.
• Willingness and ability to learn traffic control and safety procedures for a variety of surveying and construction operations.
• Ability and willingness to learn proper procedures for the care, cleaning, and use of surveying tools and electronic equipment, including the tribrach and tripod.
• Ability and willingness to lift 50 pounds, work outside for 8–10 hours a day, and walk 2 miles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and others.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Party Chief as directed with boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
• Perform routine tasks to gain familiarity with equipment, terminology, and operating procedures.
• Cut brush and hammer iron and wood stakes.
• Abide by safety requirements.
• Perform routine work that does not require previous experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
