About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment that promotes patient care by philosophy and policy. The role involves providing friendly, remarkable customer service to enhance overall patient health. Pharmacy technicians interact with patients, support pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, and assist with prescription processing, medication inventory, and pharmacy organization. Technicians must maintain patient confidentiality and meet state registration or licensing requirements, or complete Meijer employer-based training when licensure is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
Retail or community pharmacy practice experience.
Excellent customer service skills.
Positive attitude.
Proficient typing skills.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Enter customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve the appropriate medication from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Prioritize workload and stay organized.
Communicate effectively and act as an agent of change.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and professional pharmacy.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Obtain any required state license, or successfully complete Meijer employer-based training if licensure is not required in the state of practice.
