About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment that promotes patient care by philosophy and policy. The role requires a friendly approach and remarkable customer service to support patients’ overall health. The technician interacts with patients, supports pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, and assists with prescription processing, medication inventory, ordering, and pharmacy upkeep while maintaining patient confidentiality. State registration or licensure is required where applicable; otherwise, successful completion of Meijer employer-based training is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
Successful completion of Meijer employer-based training if licensure is not required in the state of practice.
Excellent customer service skills.

Retail/community pharmacy practice experience.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Enter customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve appropriate medications from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Prioritize workload and stay organized.
Communicate effectively and serve as an agent of change.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy for a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
