About The Position

One Music Schools is seeking a friendly, talented instructor to teach its Rock Band program at Strum University, its Phoenix lesson studio. The teacher leads group lessons and rehearsals, prepares students for performances, and supports students in reaching their goals as a band. The role includes communicating with parents and guardians about student progress. The school’s administration team handles business operations such as scheduling, marketing, billing, and event planning, allowing instructors to focus on teaching. The position is scheduled for Mondays from 4:00 to 9:00 PM, with occasional weekend performances. Many Rock Band teachers also teach private lessons during the week, so total hours vary. Compensation is $32 per hour. Benefits are available, subject to eligibility requirements for some plans.

Requirements

• Connect effectively with people of different ages and skill levels, particularly children and teens.
• Demonstrate teaching ability and instrument skill during an interview.
• Commit to teaching with the school for at least one year.
• Submit a music-specific resume.
• Have previous experience teaching a rock band or being in a band.
• Have basic live-sound knowledge, including the ability to work a mixing board.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Music Education or Music Performance is a plus but is not required.
• Being a multi-instrumentalist is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct Rock Band students in one-hour group lessons and rehearsals.
• Create Rock Band plans, including helping students select songs suitable for their ages and skill levels.
• Prepare students for Rock Band shows.
• Help bands work toward their goals.
• Assist bands during performances, stepping in when necessary if a band member misses a show.
• Communicate with parents and guardians about students’ progress.
