About The Position

As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, the Roadway Intern will gain practical experience supporting roadway design and transportation planning. Working under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer, the intern will assist with detailed designs for urban and rural roadway projects and apply standard engineering and planning techniques. The role includes preparing technical reports, plans, specifications, and calculations, and supporting transportation planning across all modes. The intern can also connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals’ programs. Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• Preferably have completed two years toward a degree and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to the field of study or industry.
• Preference given to local candidates.

Responsibilities

• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to create and submit technical reports, plans, specifications, and calculations.
• Assist with detailed designs of urban and rural roadway projects under the guidance and direct supervision of a senior-level Engineer.
• Apply standard planning techniques and procedures.
• Assist with transportation planning efforts across all modes.
• Participate in mentoring and young professionals’ programs to connect with recent college graduates and company leaders.
• Perform other duties as needed.
