About The Position

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced civil engineering leader, licensed in the State of Illinois or Missouri, to guide both roadway engineering design projects and the team members who deliver them. This position will serve as the Roadway Engineering Team Leader for our Roadway Design group in Edwardsville or St. Louis, providing technical direction, project oversight, and people leadership. This position will oversee a team of engineers throughout all project phases, ensuring quality and timely delivery of roadway design projects for DOT and local agencies. By promoting teamwork, mentoring junior staff, ensuring timely and quality project delivery, and managing client relationships, you will boost both project success and the firm's reputation and growth in transportation engineering. Requirements

  • Licensed in the State of Illinois or Missouri
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Roadway Design Engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and enhance client relationships.
  • Experience with project management and accounting software.
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools for design, project management, and analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Teams, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on DOT roadway projects is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team that may consist of engineers and design technicians.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior-level engineers and other team members to aid in their professional development.
  • Fostering a collaborative and positive work environment among the team.
  • Serving as a project manager for IDOT/ or MoDOT and local agency roadway design projects.
  • Overseeing and participating in project execution from initiation to completion.
  • Monitoring project progress, identifying potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Performing quality checks on work performed by project team members.
  • Providing leadership in the planning, design, and execution of major projects.
  • Preparing project documents and designs, conducting analyses, interpreting data, and planning and coordinating the engineering work to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Reviewing and approving project deliverables, including drawings and specifications.
  • Serving as a technical expert in Roadway design.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing measures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of work.
  • Maintaining and enhancing relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of service, communication, and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with senior management on strategic planning and assisting with business development.
  • Preparing proposals and/or funding applications.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as additional opportunities present themselves.
