About The Position

Provide leadership and direct supervision of permanent engineering team members. Drive performance of the team to achieve team, project and division goals. Provide project supervision for temporary team members and contractors. Provide administrative duties for the assigned engineering team. The Engineering Team Leader is a working manager and an active member of the team, providing engineering content to the project based on the individual’s training and talent (i.e. mechanical design, electrical hardware design, systems programming, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in engineering, engineering related field or equivalent experience.
  • Greater than five (5) years of automation experience.
  • Proficient user of computer programs such as Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Project.
  • The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
  • Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
  • Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive team performance to achieve goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Set and maintain team goals in keeping with company objectives.
  • Conduct annual reviews for direct reports in keeping with company policies.
  • Track individual KPI’s and metrics based on data.
  • Establish and maintain training matrices for each employee.
  • Provide direct employee development and discipline as needed.
  • Prepare and monitor workload schedules for project teams, to optimize efficiency and design simplification, and ensure compliance with project schedules.
  • Assign work and provide technical direction to team members.
  • Interview and select, in collaboration with the Director of Engineering, new team members.
  • Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate ATS LSS Chicago standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal and customer design reviews, installations, and service calls when needed.
  • Work within the confines of the project schedule and budget.
  • Problem-solve with Project Team, debug machine issues, and update all appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
  • Communicate progress and status through daily visual management.
  • Participate in project team meetings.
  • Primary engineering participant in the Project Execution Plan meetings.
  • Participate in department Lessons Learned meetings.
  • Full compliance with the terms and conditions within the employee signed work from home policy
  • Support and participate in Quality Management Program.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of ATS LSS Chicago internal and international standards.
  • Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements.
  • Provide support for technical documentation activities.
  • Maintain International Standardization Organization (ISO) standards.
  • Other duties as assigned
