About The Position

Caterpillar's Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Caterpillar’s company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and IPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future. As the Engineering Team Leader, you will be accountable for delivering 7.2L – 9.3L diesel platform solutions for machines, gensets, and external engine sales opportunities, meeting quality, velocity, and cost requirements.

Requirements

Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or any accredited engineering field degree required.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Extensive Experience: Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions. Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues. Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions. Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems. Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues. Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.

Leads team meetings to review progress and performance, ensuring follow-up on previous decisions.

Responsibilities

Guide engine design community (hardware, software, lab performance) through requirements definition, concept development, detailed design work, manufacturing support, and post-production ongoing engineering maintenance
Support factory requests for engineering changes and efficiency improvements
Represent platform engineering within manufacturing, quality, purchasing, marketing, and product support functional areas
Continuous product improvement (factory and field), technical problem solving, project timeline management, factory change planning and support, cost reduction, improving As Delivered and Built-In Quality, and ongoing maintenance to current & legacy engines.
