About The Position

Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM) is the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT) highway and bridge maintenance contractor for three service areas in British Columbia: Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley), Service Area 20 (Robson), and Service Area 26 (Skeena). For decades, EAM has delivered reliable road and bridge maintenance across urban and rural corridors. Our teams perform the full scope of highway maintenance activities, including vegetation control, drainage, sign and pavement repairs, concrete and wood bridge repair, gravel surface grading, anti‑icing, snow plowing, and incident and emergency response. Based out of regional offices and yards, our skilled year‑round workforce scales up during winter operations to meet seasonal demands and maintain prescribed response times on numbered routes. We are seeking a Night shift Road Foreman to join our team in the Fraser Valley, based out of our Abbotsford yard. As a nightshift Road Foreman with Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM), you’ll lead and mentor a crew of trade personnel to perform road tasks year-round—planning field operations, ensuring work meets safety, quality and timeline standards, and collaborating with leadership to adapt to changing conditions. Requirements

3 years' experience at the MO4 level or higher, and/or previous supervisory experience is an asset.
A working knowledge of the Highway Act, Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations as they pertain to the driving and/or operation of the vehicles, equipment and machinery under their supervision.
Knowledge of Road and Bridge maintenance procedures and proper use of equipment an asset.
A working knowledge of the WSBC Health and Safety Regulations.
Willing to nights, weekends, work days and holidays; available for on‑call work during snow events.
Valid Canadian driver’s licence with a clean abstract; minimum Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement.
Able to operate equipment safely and responsibly.
Effective communicator with co‑workers and supervisors.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather; role can be labour‑intensive.

Nice To Haves

Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 (asset).

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and supervise a crew of trade personnel to ensure high-quality road work.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate field operations—assign tasks, manage equipment and materials, and monitor progress to meet timelines and specifications.
Participate in incident investigations.
Conduct regular inspections of worksites to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and contract requirements.
Collaborate with Road Superintendent and other leadership to adapt to changing conditions—weather, emergency events, traffic, or shifting priorities.
Train crew members in safe work practices, efficient equipment operation, and environmental protection measures.
Develop and implement safe, practical and efficient traffic management plans in relation to all work activities undertaken by self or crew.
Operate equipment as and when required.
Interpret weather reports into applicable operational responses that optimize the safety of the motoring public and minimize negative impacts to the highway infrastructure.
Respond to after-hours or on-call duties as needed during snow-events, incidents or emergencies.
Ensure all operations are carried out safely, following WorkSafeBC requirements, company policies, and proper use of PPE.
