RN - Medical Childcare (Full-Time)
About The Position
ChildServe is seeking a registered nurse to join its Medical Childcare team. The program provides a specialized care environment for children with medical complexities who live at home and need a higher level of care than traditional daycare offers. The nurse provides compassionate, skilled care to children ages 6 weeks to 21 years, supporting their health, growth, and skill development as part of a collaborative team. The role is full-time and benefit-eligible, with a schedule of 32–40 hours per week on variable shifts. The program operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Current, valid license as a registered nurse in Iowa.
- One year of nursing experience.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 90 days and before working independently.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, move within clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English through reading, writing, and speaking.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing services, including physical assessments and administration of medications, feedings, and treatments to meet each child’s daily care needs.
- Complete care plans as assigned.
- Implement each child’s care plan, including nursing, therapy, and behavior support, and conduct baselines, support plans, and procedures.
- Monitor children’s responses to care.
- Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team to address health and safety needs.
- Support clients in becoming as independent as possible through skill development and retention.
- Assist clients with comfort measures, including positioning and safety devices.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records.
- Report and document daily observations, routine support provided, and health, physical, or behavioral changes.
- Communicate courteously and professionally with clients, licensed professionals, ChildServe personnel, families, schools, and the public.
