About The Position

ChildServe is seeking a registered nurse to join its Medical Childcare team. The program provides a specialized care environment for children with medical complexities who live at home and need a higher level of care than traditional daycare offers. The RN provides compassionate, skilled care to children ages 6 weeks to 21 years, supporting their health, growth, and skill development as part of a collaborative team.

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible role working 32–40 hours per week on variable shifts. The program operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Requirements

• Current, valid Registered Nurse license in Iowa.
• One year of nursing experience.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 90 days and before working independently.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, move around clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English through reading, writing, and speaking.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing services, including physical assessments and administration of medications, feedings, and treatments to meet children’s daily care needs.
• Complete care plans as assigned.
• Implement each child’s care plan, including nursing, therapy, and behavioral support; conduct baselines; and follow support plans and procedures.
• Monitor children’s responses to care.
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to address health and safety needs.
• Support children in becoming as independent as possible through skill development and retention.
• Provide comfort measures, including positioning and use of safety devices.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records.
• Report and document daily observations, routine support provided, and health, physical, or behavioral changes.
• Communicate courteously and professionally with clients, licensed professionals, ChildServe personnel, families, schools, and the public.
