About The Position

GW Hospital is a renowned academic medical center located in the heart of Washington, DC. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Wound Care Registered Nurse with expertise in enterostomal therapy to join our team and provide specialized care for patients requiring wound, ostomy, and continence management.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current RN license in the District of Columbia (or ability to obtain prior to start).
Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in wound care, ostomy, or enterostomal therapy preferred.
Experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred.
Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certification required or must be obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with wounds, ostomies, and continence issues, developing individualized care plans.
Provide expert clinical care, including wound debridement, ostomy site marking, and stoma care.
Educate patients, families, and staff on wound, ostomy, and continence management, promoting patient self-care and recovery.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
Utilize evidence-based practices to improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and progress.
Serve as a clinical resource for wound care and enterostomal therapy within the hospital.
