About The Position

GW Hospital is a renowned academic medical center located in the heart of Washington, DC. As a teaching hospital, we are committed to delivering the highest quality of care while advancing healthcare education and innovation. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Wound Care Registered Nurse with expertise in enterostomal therapy to join our team and provide specialized care for patients requiring wound, ostomy, and continence management.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN license in the District of Columbia (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in wound care, ostomy, or enterostomal therapy preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certification required or must be obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with wounds, ostomies, and continence issues, developing individualized care plans.
  • Provide expert clinical care, including wound debridement, ostomy site marking, and stoma care.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on wound, ostomy, and continence management, promoting patient self-care and recovery.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and progress.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for wound care and enterostomal therapy within the hospital.
