RN - VAD COORDINATOR

About The Position

Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) coordinator for the Mechanical Support Program (MCS) at the MFA and GW Hospital. The VAD coordinator will be the central point of contact for MCS program and will work closely with physicians, surgeons, PAs, NPs, RNs and other allied health personnel. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of program building and take a leadership role in an academic setting.

Requirements

  • Basic Life support and Advanced cardiac life support on hire or within one month of hiring.
  • Obtain and maintain VAD certification when available.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability.
  • Flexible and able to adjust schedule to meet patient/staff needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • BSN Required
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels.
  • Must be able to do math calculations and input data into the computer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in critical care/intensive care nursing/cardiac surgery and or advanced heart failure highly preferred.
  • Previous VAD experience highly desirable.
