About The Position

Frisbie Memorial Hospital is hiring an RN Student Nurse Extern for its Float Pool. The extern is a valued member of the nursing team who gains hands-on experience across the scope of the Registered Nurse role while completing a nursing program. The role supports safe, compassionate patient care and helps the student build skills and confidence for progressively advanced responsibilities. The position is based at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New Hampshire.

Requirements

• Be actively enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program and have completed a nursing fundamentals course.
• Obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
• No previous work experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility, comfort, and hygiene.
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as competency develops.
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and provide guidance related to health and recovery.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized patient areas by following infection prevention practices and managing equipment.
• Participate in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and work with a supervisor or preceptor to develop a personal career development plan.
