About The Position

The Registered Nurse coordinates clinical activities and provides care for laboring, antenatal, and postpartum (couplet) patients. The role uses the nursing process to organize, plan, implement, and evaluate care according to each patient’s specific needs. The Registered Nurse supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Unit Assistants, and Certified Nursing Assistants; works within the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures; complies with hospital and nursing standards; and supports department and hospital goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Successfully completed a Board Certified Registered Nursing Program.
• One year of labor experience required.
• Current Louisiana RN licensure.
• BLS certification required on hire.
• ALS and NRP required within three months of hire.
• Required resuscitation certifications may be through an ILCOR-provided course and must include a manikin check-off.
• AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring required within three months of hire and must be renewed every two years.
• Must possess good physical health.
• Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Nice To Haves

• ALS certification preferred on hire.
• NRP certification preferred on hire.
