About The Position
The Acute Care Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, compassionate nursing care across a variety of acute care units. The role calls for flexibility, adaptability, and specialized clinical skills to support units according to organizational needs. The RN may care for diverse patient populations in areas such as Level I Trauma, Neurology and Stroke, Infectious Disease, Cardiac and Telemetry, Post-Surgical and Orthopedic, and Medical/Surgical specialties. This position offers the opportunity to work in a Magnet-recognized academic health system and to support patient care, staff best practices, and the education of future healthcare providers. The RN also precepts nursing students and new graduate nurses.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- At least 2 years of acute care RN experience.
- Current Louisiana RN license or eligibility for licensure.
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in multiple specialty areas, such as trauma, neuro, cardiac, surgical, or telemetry.
- Specialty certification(s), such as CCRN, TCRN, or Stroke Nursing (NIHSS).
- Previous Float Pool or travel nursing experience.
- Demonstrated success working across multiple clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered nursing care across a variety of acute care units.
- Rapidly assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical adaptability when transitioning between specialties and patient populations.
- Serve as a resource for staff and promote best practices aligned with Magnet principles and academic learning environments.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Precept nursing students and new graduate nurses.
