About The Position
Legacy Health seeks an RN Staff Nurse for its Medical/Surgical Unit 25 at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in North Portland. Legacy’s nursing philosophy focuses on patients and their families; nurses serve as advocates, communicators, problem-solvers, and caregivers and are respected members of the health care team. The nurse provides care within an assigned department or unit as part of the health care team, in collaboration with and under the direction of the clinical manager or designee. The role follows the relevant Registered Nurse standards and scope of practice and carries out the nursing process, including assessing, analyzing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The nurse also follows Legacy Health System patient-care standards, including those for assessment and patient transfer.
Requirements
- Education as required by licensure.
- One year of registered nursing experience, or completion of the Legacy Health RN Residency program or a nursing program equivalent in content, curriculum, and duration.
- Additional clinical experience requirements may vary depending on the department.
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians, and the community.
- Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
- Current applicable state RN license.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association.
Nice To Haves
- BSN or a degree in progress is strongly preferred.
- A BSN may be required for specific assignments; experienced RNs without a BSN may be hired based on clinical experience with approval of the site CNO.
Responsibilities

- Adhere to the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.
- Perform the nursing process: assess, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
