This role involves utilizing the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to care for patients. The RN will perform assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. They will administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and state laws and practice acts. Accurate and comprehensive documentation is required. The RN will develop, initiate, and execute patient care plans according to individual needs, physician prescriptions, and hospital policy. Patient and family education will be provided at an appropriate level of understanding. Participation in performance improvement activities, including shared governance, is expected. The RN will use clinical expertise to guide other units and departments, resolve system breakdowns, and engage in problem-solving. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience is essential, along with managing complex situations and delegating appropriately. Escalation to the appropriate chain of command is necessary. The role involves positively influencing professional and organizational environments and shared governance, as well as engaging in personal development and continuous learning. Support for peer review and feedback opportunities is also part of the role. Clinic and Ambulatory RNs will maintain timely patient flow, respond to telephone calls, and perform telephone triage.
