About The Position

Provides direct patient care in a specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and the organization’s policies, values, and mission. The role requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, minimal supervision, and the ability to take appropriate action in a stressful environment. One year of nursing experience is required. Department-specific credentials may apply depending on the RN’s specialty and duties.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• One year of nursing experience.
• A current Florida Registered Nurse license or a Registered Nurse Compact License.
• BLS certification from an accepted provider or applicable credential option listed in the posting.
• Critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• ACLS is required for emergency department areas.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs.
• Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
