About The Position

Provides direct patient care in an emergency department specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and the organization's policies, values, and mission. Plans, implements, and evaluates care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and use available resources effectively. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition, provides age- and circumstance-appropriate education to patients and families, and collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care, disposition, referrals, and psychosocial or spiritual support. Delegates care to ancillary personnel and may precept student nurses and new hires. The position is located at MHP Douglas Road ER in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and is a per-diem role on the evening shift.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Active Florida Registered Nurse license or Registered Nurse Compact multistate license.
• One year of nursing experience.
• Required work competencies include accountability, customer service, development and implementation of a plan of care, knowledge of disease processes, organization skills, patient- and family-centered care, nursing patient safety, patient-care problem solving, responding to change, and standards of behavior.
• Requires critical thinking and effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required for emergency department RNs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, disposition, referrals, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs.
• Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
