About The Position

Provides direct patient care in a designated specialty unit in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and the organization’s policies, values, and mission. The role is based in the ICU and works nights. It requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, minimal supervision, and the ability to take appropriate action in a stressful environment. One year of nursing experience is required. An accredited nursing program and applicable RN license, BLS, and ACLS credentials are required. Department-specific credential requirements may also apply.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• At least one year of nursing experience.
• A current Florida Registered Nurse license or Compact RN multistate license.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross, or an applicable grace-period credential.
• ACLS certification, required for ICU roles; accepted credential options include American Heart Association, Red Cross, or an applicable grace-period credential.
• Critical-thinking and effective communication skills.
• Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across disciplines as needed to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referrals, and spiritual or psychosocial support.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
• Evaluate patient and/or family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
