About The Position

This is a part-time, hybrid position for a Registered Nurse (RN) seeking an opportunity away from the bedside. The Poison Information Specialist will handle incoming emergency calls from the State of Wisconsin public and healthcare providers in an office setting. Responsibilities include providing callers with assessment, evaluation, disposition, and education and prevention information regarding human toxic exposures using medically approved guidelines in computer software systems. After orientation, the role is 20 hours per week and requires the employee to live within a commutable distance to Wauwatosa, WI. The schedule is a combination of days (6am - 2:30pm) and PM shifts (2:30pm - 11:00pm), with every other weekend and holiday rotation. After passing the exam to become a "certified" Poison Information Specialist, overnight hours will be required.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (Associate or Bachelor's degree) required OR Pharmacist with Bachelor's degree along with previous clinical or Poison Center experience.
License RN-Registered Nurse (30) - State of Wisconsin OR License Pharmacist (40) - State of Wisconsin.
Must live within a commutable distance to Wauwatosa, WI.

Nice To Haves

Three years of clinical experience in acute, ambulatory care or a pediatric setting preferred.
Previous experience in an AAPCC certified Poison Center preferred.

Responsibilities

Handle incoming emergency calls from the State of Wisconsin public and health care providers in an office setting.

Successfully complete exam for Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI) after meeting the requirements put forth by the American Association of Poison Control Centers within 3 attempts.
