RN - Poison Information Specialist - Hybrid - Part time
About The Position
This is a part-time, hybrid position for a Registered Nurse (RN) seeking an opportunity away from the bedside. The Poison Information Specialist will handle incoming emergency calls from the State of Wisconsin public and healthcare providers in an office setting. Responsibilities include providing callers with assessment, evaluation, disposition, and education/prevention information regarding human toxic exposures, utilizing medically approved guidelines and computer software systems. After orientation, the role is 20 hours per week and requires the employee to live within a commutable distance to Wauwatosa, WI. The schedule includes a combination of day (6am - 2:30pm) and PM (2:30pm - 11:00pm) shifts, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Upon passing the exam to become a Certified Specialist in Poison Information (CSPI), overnight hours will be required.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (Associate or Bachelor's degree) required OR Pharmacist with Bachelor's degree.
- Must live within a commutable distance to Wauwatosa, WI.
- One of the following licenses: License RN-Registered Nurse (30) - State of Wisconsin OR License Pharmacist (40) - State of Wisconsin.
Nice To Haves
- Previous clinical or Poison Center experience (if a Pharmacist).
- Three years of clinical experience in acute, ambulatory care or a pediatric setting.
- Previous experience in an AAPCC certified Poison Center.
