Full Time Hospice RN On-Call
About The Position
Silverado Hospice is hiring a compassionate, skilled RN On-Call to provide after-hours support to hospice patients and families in the Austin-area service region, including Lockhart, San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, South Austin, Lakeway, North Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown, and Leander. The role provides timely assessments and continuity of care during critical moments, helping deliver dignified, responsive, patient-centered hospice care. The nurse performs comprehensive nursing evaluations and after-hours assessments, responds to changes in patient condition and discomfort, updates plans of care, provides caregiver instruction, documents visits, and coordinates care across settings. This is a full-time schedule from Friday at 5:00 p.m. through Monday at 8:00 a.m., with flexibility to work outside regular hours based on business needs.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with a valid state license.
- At least 1 year of nursing experience.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Must clear a criminal background check, physical, and drug screening.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours based on business needs.
- Must be comfortable working in environments with animals and pets.
Nice To Haves
- Hospice experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing evaluations and after-hours assessments for patients experiencing changes in condition.
- Assess for signs and symptoms of discomfort, including pain, and take prompt, appropriate action.
- Initiate and update plans of care as needed, provide nursing follow-up, and instruct caregivers.
- Submit accurate documentation within 24 hours of visits.
- Coordinate services across settings to ensure quality and appropriateness of care.
- Follow approved care plans, modify them as needed, and communicate with physicians when appropriate.
