About The Position

Using the Nursing Informatics Scope and Standard of Practice, the Nursing Informatics RN serves in an infrastructure role across the organization, specializing in patient care processes and clinician workflow. The role serves as a liaison between clinical staff and the Information Technology department to coordinate operations of advanced clinical information systems. It leads initiatives to promote effective process design, development, and implementation of the electronic medical record and other clinical technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an RN.
• Competency in nursing clinical practice and professional development applicable to the assigned unit or area.

Nice To Haves

• Master of Science in Nursing.
• Certification in Nursing Informatics through the ANCC.
• Pediatric experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation, effective utilization, and ongoing support of clinical information and information systems for effective and safe patient care.
• Assist in evaluating, selecting, and acquiring information technology vendors, clinical hardware devices, application software, and enhancements to meet organizational needs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in health informatics to facilitate effective integration of data and information supporting healthcare providers and patients in decision-making.
• Serve as a resource for clinicians on the clinical information system and patient care processes to promote optimal care, reduce errors, and achieve organizational goals.
• Provide direction to clinicians in identifying information system needs.
• Participate in improvement projects and assigned committees, providing electronic medical record expertise while maintaining patient safety, clinician support, and care improvement.
• Work with functions of a specific clinical application system and its subsystems.
