About The Position

Registered Nurse position in a 20-bed Level III-or-higher NICU. The unit cares for patients with congenital abnormalities, feeders/growers, and ventilator needs; it does not care for ECMO patients. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 and 1:2. The unit has a charge nurse who typically does not take patients, and no nurse aides. Neonatologists, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy are available 24/7. Respiratory therapists typically manage ventilators. Nurses titrate drips and must be able to read and interpret monitor strips. The EMR is Cerner. Orientation consists of three shifts.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience.
• Experience in a Level III or higher NICU.
• BLS certification.
• NRP certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Ability to read and interpret monitor strips.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to NICU patients, including those with congenital abnormalities, feeders/growers, and ventilator needs.
• Read and interpret monitor strips.
• Titrate drips.
• Work every other weekend and holidays as part of the permanent staff rotation.
