About The Position

This program is designed for upcoming Fall/Winter 2026 RN graduates who aspire to work in Critical Care. It offers an innovative orientation to accelerate career progression into the ICU. The program includes orientation in specific MedSurg departments to build foundational nursing skills, with 3 immersion shifts in the ICU every 6 weeks. These immersion shifts are intended to foster relationships with the ICU team, familiarize participants with ICU policies and procedures, and introduce them to ICU patient populations. Professional development nurses will provide support throughout the program to ensure a successful transition into the specialty. The Level II Trauma ICU/Critical Care unit is a fast-paced, 20-bed unit caring for high-acuity patients, including those post-cardiothoracic surgery, neurovascular interventions, ventilated patients, traumas, continuous renal replacement therapy, and post-cardiac arrest care. The multidisciplinary team includes RNs, Critical Care Technicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, Intensivists, Pharmacists, Respiratory Therapists, Health Unit Coordinators, and support staff.

Requirements

  • Upcoming Fall/Winter 2026 RN graduate.
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing upon hire.
  • RN licensure to practice in the state of Wisconsin upon hire.
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Hospital or EMS experience preferred.
