About The Position

This program is designed for Fall/Winter 2026 RN graduates who aspire to a career in Emergency Medicine. It offers an innovative orientation to accelerate progression into a high-acuity department. The program includes orientation in specific MedSurg departments to build foundational nursing skills, with scheduled immersion shifts in Emergency Services every 6 weeks. These immersion shifts will help foster rapport with the team and familiarize participants with department policies, procedures, and patient populations. Professional development nurses will provide support for practice growth. The Emergency Services department is a Level II ACS-verified Trauma Center serving over 68,000 patients annually, equipped with 45 exam rooms, including specialized rooms for urgent care, resuscitation/trauma/critical care, and behavioral health. It offers 24-hour access to laboratory, X-ray, and surgical services, and is a certified Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center.

Requirements

  • Fall/Winter 2026 RN graduate.
  • Associate's degree in nursing upon start date.
  • RN licensure to practice in the state of Wisconsin upon start date.
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients of all ages, including toddlers and adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Hospital or EMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in orientation in specific MedSurg departments.
