The Registered Nurse assesses and treats human responses to actual or potential health problems, establishing a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. As a leader and integrator of care, the nurse is responsible and accountable for planning, coordinating, and evaluating patient care needs. The role practices primarily on hospital units, caring for acutely ill patients with a wide variety of medical issues and supporting recovery from surgery.

This is a 0.6 FTE position, equivalent to 48 hours per two-week pay period, with permanent 12-hour night shifts and an every-third-weekend rotation. The position is in the Medical Surgical Unit in Hastings, Minnesota.

Requirements

• Associate’s or vocational degree.
• Licensed Registered Nurse through the Minnesota Board of Nursing if working in Minnesota, or the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services if working in Wisconsin, required upon hire.
• Meet at least one BLS requirement: current American Heart Association certification, current American Red Cross certification, or Allina in-house BLS training within 30 days of hire.
• At applicable locations, meet at least one ACLS/ALS requirement: current American Heart Association ACLS certification, current American Red Cross ALS certification, or Allina in-house ACLS training within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs, identify outcomes, establish and supervise the plan of care, and modify it as needed.
• Maintain education and competencies to provide proficient, high-quality patient care.
• Incorporate evidence-based nursing practice and applicable statutes, rules, and regulations into care planning.
• Collaborate with patients and families to establish realistic, measurable expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patient capabilities and goals, available resources, and continuity-of-care plans.
• Identify outcomes that are age-appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic, and attainable.
• Coordinate, collaborate, and delegate appropriately to ensure safe and effective care.
• Fulfill organizational requirements.
• When acting as Charge Nurse, coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operations and collaborate with unit staff, leadership, and other disciplines.
• When acting as Preceptor, identify the orientee’s learning needs, plan appropriate learning experiences, and validate clinical competence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
