The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role involves modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. The nurse provides education tailored to individual patient needs, monitors changes in patient condition, and collaborates with patients to identify treatment plan goals. Accurate documentation in medical records and adherence to policies and procedures are essential. The role also requires working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality care and minimize risks, while maintaining accurate reports and records. The nurse must be able to anticipate and respond to changes in patient status or equipment malfunctions, and modify treatment plans as needed. Collaboration with patient care team members and adherence to EMTALA regulations for patient transfers are also key responsibilities. Additional department-specific functions may be required.
