The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role involves modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. The nurse will provide education tailored to individual patient needs, monitor patient conditions, record and report symptoms, and intervene when necessary. Responsibilities include performing complete data collection, collaborating with patients on treatment plans, and encouraging family participation. Accurate documentation in medical records, use of multi-disciplinary team strategies, and maintaining accurate reports are essential. The role requires working collaboratively with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors, anticipating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions, and modifying treatment plans as needed. Collaboration with patient care team members and conducting patient care and transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations are also key functions. Additional department-specific functions may be required.
