About The Position

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role involves planning, assessing, directing, implementing, and providing quality patient care for assigned patients, including modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. The nurse will provide education tailored to individual patient needs using the nursing process in accordance with policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include monitoring changes in patient condition, recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs, intervening when necessary, and performing complete data collection from patient complaints and history. The role also involves collaborating with patients on treatment plan goals, discharging patients with a written plan, and encouraging family participation. The nurse will deliver nursing care, including assessment and planning of education for identified knowledge deficits, treatment, pain management, and discharge. Accurate documentation in medical records, on forms, and in the computer is essential, meeting all standards, policies, and procedures. The position requires delivering quality care through multi-disciplinary team strategies, minimizing risks of infection, harm, or injury, and maintaining accurate reports and records. Directing care with consideration for age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history is crucial. The role involves maintaining good rapport and cooperative working relationships with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors, anticipating deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions, and taking appropriate action. Modifying patient treatment plans based on responses and conditions, and collaborating with patient care team members on care plans, including consistent use of hand-off communication, are also key functions. The nurse will conduct and coordinate patient care and transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable, and perform additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures. Requirements

Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days.
4881 RN I: 6 months -1.99 years of relevant experience.
4882 RN II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
4883 RN III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
4884 RN IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days.
Successful completion of EKG and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, if working on a monitored unit and maintained throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Certification in the area of nurse specialty.

Responsibilities

Delivers quality care by using multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizing the risk of infection, harm, or injury.
Maintains accurate detailed reports and records and directs care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors.
Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Collaborates with patient care team members on patient care plan, incorporating consistent use of hand-off communication.
Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable.
Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures.
