The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role involves modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. The nurse will provide education tailored to individual patient needs, monitor changes in patient condition, and perform complete data collection. Collaboration with patients to identify treatment plan goals and discharge planning are key responsibilities. The role also includes encouraging family participation, documenting accurately in medical records, and delivering quality care using multi-disciplinary team strategies. Maintaining accurate reports, directing care with regard to age and developmental stage, and working collaboratively with physicians and staff are essential. The nurse will anticipate deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and take appropriate action, modifying patient treatment plans as needed. Collaboration with patient care team members on patient care plans and conducting/coordinating patient transfers are also part of the role. Additional department-specific functions may be required.
