The Seasonal RN works in a fast-paced, high-acuity Med/Oncology unit caring for patients across medical/surgical, telemetry, PCU, oncology, chemotherapy, postoperative surgery, cardiac drips, and palliative care. The 20-bed unit has patient ratios of 1:4 for chemotherapy and 1:5 for Med/Tele. Nurses partner with an on-unit pharmacist and social worker during the day and work with a multidisciplinary team. Chemotherapy training is required within the first 90 days. The nurse conducts thorough assessments using clinical judgment and reasoning; identifies patient and family needs; develops, implements, and evaluates nursing care plans; monitors patient progress and adjusts care as needed; creates safe, therapeutic environments; and manages emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and reduce unnecessary suffering. This is a 13-week seasonal assignment. The first week is a full week of orientation, followed by three 12-hour shifts per week. The schedule requires four weekend shifts per six-week scheduling period.
