About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse applies skills and techniques common to vocational nursing for patients appropriate to the assigned unit. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN performs assigned tasks related to patient care in accordance with health system policies, the hospital’s philosophy, and the nursing department’s mission. The Registered Nurse plans, supervises, and evaluates patient nursing care and coordinates the nursing process with the medical plan of care and applicable policies.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School for Licensed Practical Nursing or an associate’s degree in nursing.
• State of Alabama Nursing License.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in a medical-surgical unit is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients appropriate to the assigned unit.
• Perform assigned patient-care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Plan, supervise, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Registered Nurse role.
• Coordinate the nursing process with the medical plan of care and applicable policies.
