About The Position

As a Charge Nurse at Miller’s Health Systems, the nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients on their shift. The role follows each patient’s Comprehensive Care Plan, assists the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate documentation in patient records when needed, and supervises direct resident care personnel on the shift. The position is for a licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Indiana and involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.

Requirements

• Currently licensed and registered to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Indiana.
• Successfully complete the pre-employment process and screening.
• Pass the physical examination required for employment at the facility.
• Maintain a professional manner and appearance.
• Know nursing policies and procedures; medication administration and possible side effects; treatment administration; and local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to resident care.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and residents’ physical, psychological, social, and medical needs.
• Understand the organizational structure and duties of employees supervised by the Unit Manager.
• Demonstrate competence in supervision and leadership.
• Have a caring attitude and be observant.
• Foster and maintain good working relationships with other staff.
• Demonstrate good judgment and emotional stability.
• Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Be passionate about serving others and able to work with a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients on the assigned shift.
• Follow patients’ Comprehensive Care Plans.
• Assist the Unit Manager with thorough and accurate documentation in patient records when needed.
• Supervise direct resident care personnel on the shift.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with nursing policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
