About The Position

This is a 100% FTE position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient Pediatric Operating Room team at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI. The role involves providing high-quality perioperative nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents undergoing surgical procedures. The RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs, and Child Life specialists to ensure safe, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include serving as a pediatric circulating nurse in 6 OR suites, 2 procedural suites, and 1 hybrid OR, maintaining a sterile and safe environment, and advocating for pediatric patients and their families. Requirements

• Registration as a professional nurse in the state of Wisconsin Upon Hire Required
• CPR certification Upon Hire Required
• 6 months of relevant clinical experience Required

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
• Clinical operating room experience Preferred
• ACLS certification Preferred
• PALS certification Preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents undergoing surgical procedures.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs, and Child Life specialists to ensure safe, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience.
• Serve as a pediatric circulating nurse which includes 6 OR suites, 2 procedural suites, and 1 hybrid OR.
• Maintain a sterile and safe operating room environment, ensuring compliance with all safety and infection control standards.
• Advocate for pediatric patients and their families, offering emotional support, education, and clear communication.
