About The Position

Shriners Children's Chicago has an opportunity for a full-time / day shift Pediatric RN in our Inpatient Unit. Join a team of professionals committed to improving children's lives. The Inpatient RN is responsible for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in a collaborative, family-centered environment. This position will provide leadership by acting as an informal and formal leader, preceptor and through quality improvement efforts. Inpatient Pediatric Registered Nurses will have the opportunity to expand their practice through exposure to all of our lines of service, including Orthopedics, Spinal Cord Injury, Rehabilitation and Cleft Lip and Palate. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shriners Children's Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluation and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • BSN degree or in process
  • Illinois RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years acute care hospital RN experience
  • Pediatric experience in an orthopedic and/or plastics environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
