Registered Nurse position serving a combination of intensive care units, which may include MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, and other general ICUs. Patient assignments are typically 1:1–2 depending on acuity, with possible assignments up to 1:3. High-acuity patients, including those receiving CRRT, IABP, or Impella, may require 1:1 care. The RN must be comfortable titrating critical drips, including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin. Nurses are expected to read and interpret their own telemetry and assist with troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs. The position may involve floating to ICU, PCU/Stepdown, or MS-Tele units. Shifts are 7–7. Leadership creates schedules six weeks at a time, and travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling. Time-off requests must be submitted before the assignment starts. Nurses work 6–9 weekend shifts per six-week schedule and may be asked to participate in the holiday rotation. Call or standby is rare and associated with low census. Unit-specific orientation lasts 1–2 days with a preceptor.
