About The Position

Registered Nurse position in a 32-bed Intensive Care Unit with all private rooms. Nurses care for patients at ratios of 1:2, or 1:1 for high-acuity patients, and manage critical drips and ventilated patients. Hospitalists or intensivists are in-house 24/7, as are respiratory therapy and pharmacy services. The unit uses Cerner and Nihon Kohden bedside monitors; nurses must read and interpret their own monitor strips. There are no nurse aides or IV team. The position involves 12-hour shifts starting at 7 a.m. or 7 p.m. Travelers coordinate scheduling with their shift manager. Self-scheduling is accepted for a new schedule; travelers joining a current schedule are placed where needed. Nurses may float to Telemetry or, rarely, to the Emergency Room for holds.
