Registered Nurse position in a 24-bed ICU. Nurses work 12-hour shifts, either 0645–1915 or 1845–0715. The unit has 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios, and nurses may be required to float to telemetry, where ratios are 1:4. The ICU has 24 hardwired monitor beds and 8 hardwired overflow beds; nurses must read and interpret strips, as there is no monitor technician. The unit cares for patients receiving drips such as neosynephrine, levophed, vasopressin, amiodarone, dopamine, and dobutamine, and provides ventilator care. An intensivist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy are available in-house 24/7. Unit-specific orientation consists of two shifts on the unit.
