The 4 East Obstetrics department is seeking an RN IBCLC Lactation Consultant for a full-time, night shift position. This role involves applying in-depth knowledge of maternal and neonatal conditions affecting breastfeeding, assessing and managing complex lactation problems, and assisting mothers in achieving their breastfeeding goals. The consultant will function as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, serving as a consultant, educator, and mentor to nurses, healthcare professionals, and patients.

Requirements

• International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) Certification
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• 1 year of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care for inpatient mother-baby couplets, and neonates.
• Develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and revises preparation for childbirth, newborn care, sibling preparation, postpartum, and breastfeeding classes for expectant and new parents.
• Develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and revises preceptorships, in-service programs, workshops and continuing education classes on topics related to breastfeeding management for nursing staff, medical staff, and students of health care-related fields (RN, ARNP, CNM, MD, RD, etc.) as well as staff education materials.
• Assists in the management of the breast pump rental station.
• Manages work flow in the perinatal education department.
