About The Position

Amedisys is hiring an acute care registered nurse to provide hospital-level care to patients at home, on a team at UAMS in partnership with Contessa, an Amedisys company. The RN starts patient care by completing nursing and safety assessments, reconciling medications, and implementing standardized protocols. The role includes administering prescribed medications, typically intravenously, collecting blood samples, inserting Foley catheters, providing therapeutic interventions, educating patients, monitoring changes in condition, and updating care plans and assessments as needed. The nurse documents assessments, interventions, and care coordination; participates in orientations and an on-call rotation; and performs other assigned duties.

The schedule is 12 p.m.–10 p.m., four 10-hour shifts, with alternating weekends. Compensation is $40–$43 per hour. Benefit eligibility may vary by position and shift status, and participation in some listed benefits requires enrollment in an Amedisys medical plan.

Requirements

• Associate of Science in nursing.
• Current RN license specific to the state(s) assigned.
• One year of adult acute inpatient medical or medical/surgical care experience within the last five years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Reliable transportation and company-required liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in nursing.
• Experience providing RN services in the home, community, or clinic.
• Adult medical critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Start patient care, including nursing assessment, medication reconciliation, safety assessments, and implementation of standardized protocols.
• Administer prescribed medications, typically intravenously; obtain blood samples; insert Foley catheters; and provide therapeutic interventions.
• Educate patients on managing their illness, prescribed medications, nursing interventions, and care plan.
• Identify and act on changes in a patient's condition.
• Evaluate and revise care plans and assessments based on changes in patients or their environments.
• Document assessments, interventions, and care coordination details.
• Participate in regular, in-service, or special case orientations as needed.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
