About The Position

The Medical Intensive Care Unit at Longmont United Hospital is a Medical/Surgical ICU department with 16 beds. We see a variety of trauma patients (GI bleeds, post MI patients requiring support devices or medication) and anyone in need of critical care, we also provide house telemetry overflow as needed. Our department's mission is to foster evidenced-based knowledge and education advancement, delivering the best care to our patients and their families.

Requirements

  • One year experience required
  • Charge RN experience required
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
  • Colorado Only: RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency, i.e., drivers license, register to vote, etc.
  • Compact to Compact.
  • Upon issuance of a new multi-state license, the former license is inactivated.
  • Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs

Responsibilities

  • Actively support department director/manager by coordinating clinical and department activities for the unit including shift charge, department and/or service line.
  • Ensure that care is delivered to each patient in accordance with quality standards.
  • Act as liaison between physicians and patient care team.
  • Maintain communication and promote cooperation with unit staff and other departments.
  • Supervise the staff; authorize work procedures and assign duties.
  • Provides input and recommendations to the director/manager on coaching, mentoring and performance management of associates.
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Personally, accountable for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
