About The Position

The RN Charge Nurse demonstrates Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision, and values through behavior. The registered nurse delivers patient care using the nursing processes of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, and directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards. The role requires cooperation and communication with health team members to support high-quality patient care. The Charge Nurse plans and coordinates daily operations and provides effective leadership that complements and extends the role of the Director.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Possess a nursing license in good standing in the State of Alabama.
• At least two years of clinical experience in a specialty setting, such as Med/Surg or Critical Care.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient health problems and needs.
• Develop and implement care plans.
• Use the nursing process to deliver direct patient care to acutely ill patients.
• Administer medications and intravenous infusions.
• Provide effective patient and family education.
• Maintain medical records.
• Supervise and oversee registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and unit secretaries.
• Manage the daily operations of the nursing unit effectively and efficiently.
• Plan and coordinate daily operations and provide effective leadership.
