About The Position

This is a 60% FTE position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Access Center, working an evening/night shift primarily from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including weekends and some holidays. Hours may vary based on departmental needs. The RN will assist referring providers with urgent care needs for adult and pediatric patients, potentially arranging transportation via UW Med Flight or CHETA. This role serves as a clinical liaison to centralize and simplify the process of providing the appropriate level of care for patients, ensuring a multidisciplinary team approach for optimal patient and family care.

Requirements

  • 1 year of relevant clinical RN experience in acute care medical/surgical nursing Required
  • Registration as a professional nurse in the state of Wisconsin Required

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Recent experience in phone triage, phone processing, discharge planning, or case management - Preferred
  • 3 years of experience in an acute care inpatient unit or Intermediate Care Experience - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist referring providers with urgent care needs for their adult and pediatric patients.
  • Arrange transportation on UW Med Flight or CHETA (Children’s Hospital Emergency Transport Ambulance).
  • Act as the clinical liaison to centralize and simplify the process of providing the appropriate level of care for the patient.
  • Ensure a multidisciplinary team approach while working to provide access for the best care of the patient and family.
