About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Risk & Patient Safety Manager (RN) to support organizational risk management and patient safety initiatives within a healthcare setting. This role partners closely with leadership and clinical teams to investigate incidents, analyze trends, and drive performance improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in risk management, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of: Risk Management, Patient Safety Programs, Performance Improvement, Regulatory Compliance
  • Experience preparing reports, maintaining documentation, and analyzing data
  • Active Wyoming RN License – Required
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance standards
  • Experience with incident reporting and risk management systems
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic healthcare environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or higher – Preferred
  • LEAN methodologies
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Formal risk management or patient safety program experience
  • CPHRM (Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management) – Preferred
  • Candidates not currently certified must obtain CPHRM certification within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization’s event reporting and incident management programs
  • Investigate adverse events and patient safety concerns
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and sentinel event investigations
  • Track corrective actions and ensure timely resolution
  • Analyze incident and claims data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Manage patient complaints and grievance processes
  • Lead and support performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Participate in LEAN and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement corrective and preventive action plans
  • Participate in committees, workgroups, and organizational initiatives
  • Monitor compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
  • Maintain documentation related to adverse events, risk assessments, and claims
  • Prepare statistical reports, loss summaries, and regulatory documentation
  • Support reporting requirements for CMS and other regulatory bodies
  • Educate staff and leadership on risk management and patient safety practices
  • Serve as a resource to medical staff and hospital leadership
  • Assist with development and revision of policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with external agencies and quality organizations
