About The Position

Land O’Lakes is seeking a Risk Management Specialist to support corporate and risk management operations, including regulatory compliance, the company-wide surety program, insurance renewals, certificates of insurance, third-party property damage recovery, and insurance-related financial administration. The role applies professional judgment to analyze requirements, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, resolve issues, strengthen processes and controls, and deliver accurate, timely, audit-ready outcomes. Matters with material coverage, legal, financial, or strategic implications are escalated. The position owns recurring insurance, self-insurance, and regulatory filings, reports, assessments, and audits; manages surety requests and related documentation; and leads third-party property damage recovery from notification through resolution. It also manages annual insurance renewal workstreams, certificate and proof-of-insurance processes, and insurance-related purchasing, invoices, payments, and vendor coordination. The role requires on-site work at the Arden Hills office Tuesday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to independently manage recurring programs, multiple deadlines, and cross-functional deliverables with limited day-to-day direction.
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance administration, certificates of insurance, regulatory or self-insurance reporting, surety bonds, insurance renewals, property damage claims, and cost-recovery practices.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret requirements, reconcile information, identify discrepancies and control gaps, develop practical solutions, and determine when escalation is appropriate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, customer service, and vendor coordination skills, including the ability to communicate requirements and resolve issues across functions.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, accountability, and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Current Notary Public commission or ability to obtain and maintain one.
  • Ability to work on-site in the Arden Hills office Tuesday through Thursday.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of related work experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in insurance or risk management operations, regulatory compliance, claims or recovery administration, finance operations, procurement, or a related business function is strongly desired.
  • Experience with document-management, procurement, invoice, claims, or reporting systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own recurring insurance, self-insurance, and regulatory filings, reports, assessments, and audits; interpret requirements, establish work plans, and ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • Analyze payroll, employee, claims, financial, and exposure information; reconcile discrepancies; prepare submissions and payment requests; and maintain defensible supporting documentation.
  • Manage the company-wide surety program, including bond requests, renewals, cancellations, indemnity and supporting documentation, and relationships with brokers and surety providers.
  • Monitor statutory and contractual obligations, identify emerging issues or control gaps, recommend corrective action, and escalate material exceptions.
  • Lead third-party property damage recovery matters from initial notification through resolution, assessing facts and coordinating evidence, repair estimates, invoices, responsible-party and insurer communications, and recovery demands.
  • Partner with Facilities, Legal, Finance, insurers, brokers, and business stakeholders to resolve disputed or complex recovery matters and maximize timely recovery of repair and related costs.
  • Track recovery results, reconcile receipts, maintain case documentation, identify trends, and escalate material exposure or recovery risk.
  • Manage annual renewal workstreams for casualty and executive-risk programs, including timelines, information requirements, stakeholder assignments, and completion status.
  • Compile and analyze exposure, payroll, location, vehicle, financial, loss, and operational information; challenge inconsistencies and coordinate resolution with business partners.
  • Prepare insurance applications, questionnaires, exhibits, and underwriting materials for leadership and broker review; identify matters requiring coverage, underwriting, or strategic discussion.
  • Partner with brokers, insurers, Finance, Legal, and business stakeholders to improve data quality, renewal readiness, and program administration.
  • Manage liability and property certificate processes and other proof-of-insurance requirements; evaluate requests against approved coverage and contractual requirements; resolve routine exceptions and escalate nonstandard or potentially material obligations.
  • Monitor certificate service levels, documentation quality, expirations, and deficiencies; coordinate corrective action and maintain accurate, audit-ready records.
  • Identify recurring certificate issues and implement process improvements that strengthen consistency, responsiveness, and control.
  • Manage purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, payment requests, regulatory fees, and recurring insurance-related payments within established financial controls.
  • Review charges and supporting documentation, resolve discrepancies, monitor commitments and payment status, and maintain reliable financial trackers.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Accounts Payable, brokers, insurers, and vendors to resolve service and payment issues and support effective vendor relationships.
  • Identify financial-administration process or control improvements and report outstanding items, exceptions, and risks.
