About The Position

Harbor Group Management Company is a real estate investment and property management firm headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia. It invests in and manages diversified office, retail, and multifamily property portfolios. Under the direction of the Insurance Manager, the Risk Management Intern will learn real estate investment and property management best practices, participate in the Company’s Mission and Values, and promote its Vision of Excellence. The internship requires a 10-week commitment from June through August 2027.

Requirements

Be enrolled in a four-year accredited program.
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Commit to 10 weeks from June through August.
Be willing to travel for both the Kick-Off and Capstone events.
Demonstrate computer proficiency and excellent communication skills.
Demonstrate professionalism in work quality, punctuality, attendance, and attitude.
Have dependability, good judgment, and organizational skills.
Show initiative to stay engaged while gaining industry knowledge.
Be able to lead and maintain good working relationships with peers.

Responsibilities

Support the Insurance Manager in administering property and casualty insurance programs.
Provide insurance quote support.
Participate in underwriter meetings.
Participate in claims activities, including weekly claims calls and bi-weekly litigation calls.
Support claim resolution issues.
Evaluate incident reports and identify corrective actions and gaps in information.
Support operations compliance functions, including renters insurance, vendor insurance standards, and reasonable accommodations.
Complete other projects as assigned.
