About The Position

Harbor Group Management Company is an established real estate investment and property management company headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, with more than $20 billion in assets under management. It invests in and manages diversified portfolios that include office, retail, and multifamily properties.

Under the direction of the Insurance Manager, the Summer 2027 Risk Management Intern will gain knowledge of real estate investment and property management best practices. The intern will support insurance and operations compliance activities and participate in the Company’s Mission, Values, and Vision of Excellence. The position requires a 10-week commitment from June through August and travel for the Kick-Off and Capstone events.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a four-year accredited program.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
• Commitment for 10 weeks from June through August.
• Willingness to travel for the Kick-Off and Capstone events.
• Computer proficiency and excellent communication skills.
• Professionalism in quality of work, punctuality, attendance, and attitude.
• Dependability, good judgment, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Insurance Manager in administering property and casualty insurance programs.
• Provide support with insurance quotes.
• Participate in underwriter meetings.
• Participate in claims activities, including weekly claims calls and bi-weekly litigation calls.
• Support claim resolution issues.
• Evaluate incident reports and identify corrective actions and information gaps.
• Support operations compliance functions, including renters insurance, vendor insurance standards, and reasonable accommodations.
• Complete other projects as assigned.
